Marshaunda’s Steps Of Giants Sweet Auburn Experience was awesome. She was engaging, very knowledgeable, fun, and energetic! She was extremely thoughtful and provided water and good snacks in really nice drawstring bags with her company name on them. Her middle and high school teacher background really added an extra touch to the tour and involved me, my son (17), and niece (16) in the storytelling by having us answer questions or make guesses. It definitely kept us on our toes and engaged. She even had a photographer with us taking pictures, which she’ll send us. I also appreciated her recommendations to other locations. She was a True HOST!! Thank you Marshaunda from all of us!!

This tour was the best part of our trip to Atlanta. I don’t think I could have picked a better tour. Marshaunda was so knowledgeable. There is so much history here that I had no idea about. She also took us to a surprise location that we absolutely loved. Again, so much history. I can’t say enough about this tour. Marshaunda went above and beyond. Out tour was way past the time scheduled and she seemed ok with that at and didn’t rush us. I really appreciated that. She also provided us with a backpack that had water and snacks, what a nice touch.

Looking for experiences while in Atlanta, I selected Steps Of Giants Sweet Auburn Experience hosted by Marshaunda, I was not disappointed!! This young lady is originally from my hometown Chicago, but she delivered the knowledge as if she experienced this. I loved her energy, she gave her presentation as if it was a full tour and it was only me. Her knowledge and presentation of the information and knowledge had people stop in their tracks to listen to her. I would definitely recommend this experience. I learned so much about MLK and his family as well as the neighborhood. I wish it was warmer (LOL) after the tour she dropped me off to Slutty Vegan which was not in the tour!!! Thanks so much Marshaunda for my gift bag and the experience!!!

This experience is totally worth it, I learned so much more than what was taught in school. I saw so many historic buildings. It was like a quick history lesson with little quizzes mixed in. The energy that Marshsaunda brought to this experience was encouraging. I was ready to head to the library in search of more details. I actually took notes and (Hidden by Airbnb) d some of the people she taught us about. Without question Marshaunda is a wonderful host with a very pleasant presentation. Teaching comes naturally for her and she brought good and warm energy to a cold Saturday morning. I plan to go again on my next trip, so I can absorb all the information a second time.

This experience was ‘everything’! We’re visiting Atlanta on my ladies Bday and I’m so glad we could spend it with Marshaunda taking the ‘Steps of Giants’ through places significant to MLK and others, crucial to our advancement as African Americans and as capable Black ppl in general. It was literally part of the best parts of the day. highly recommended

This is a must to learn about Martin L. King. Marshaunda was a great history teller. Making the tour fun and interactive. She has a lot of Insight and delivery it with enthusiasm and passion which immerse you in history. She will make bells 🔔 ring in your head ( ahaa moments). This tour is a must. Marshaunda is very knowledgeable and a wonderful storyteller. She is passionate about the subject matter and makes you want to learn more. She is friendly and full of great recommendations for other things to do and see. If you want to learn a lot about Atlanta history, particularly MLK Jr. and Sweet Auburn, we would highly recommend this tour.

Tanya

Very, very worthwhile! Marshaunda has not only done her homework, but has memorized stories from historical archives that she is ready to share with you. The places we stopped are places most people only drive by to commemorate the history hidden in the bricks and the hearts of the people of these important places along Sweet Auburn. These landmarks of Civil Rights advocacy, the political rise of MLK, Jr. and black leadership, women business owners, preachers and media innovators were brought to life by Marshaunda’s good humored and at times sobering storytelling.

Do not hesitate to take this tour. It has left a deep impression on our hearts and minds and in 2.5 hours we only scratched the surface!

This is seriously the BEST guided tour I have ever been on… and I am a history buff that has traveled extensively. Marshaunda knows her stuff and is warm, friendly, and funny. As a former social studies teacher, she has done her research and presents facts and stories in interesting ways. However, like any good teacher, she doesn’t just present facts- she makes you think! I HIGHLY recommend this tour to all who visit Atlanta and want to learn more about the history of the Sweet Auburn area. I will be back and I am bringing friends!!

Kristi

Before I booked this experience I was definitely nervous about how knowledgeable is the host going to be about black history and are the stories original how is she getting her info. But every story told was from either first hand, research, experience , and or clear understanding of how MLK’s block really was so significant back in the 40’50’60’s. My mind was blown of all the knowledge she had in her brain. I can’t say I’m the same person I was yesterday to today with all that I know now. I suggest every visitor coming to Atlanta book this experience. Def a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you so much to the host . Best tour by far .

Alexis

Hands-down worth the $40 and so much more. Did this tour the day I arrived in Atlanta for the first time and could not ask for a more fascinating, fun introduction to the neighborhood/city.

Marshaunda is a friendly guide and deeply passionate educator with a gift for engaging storytelling. Was continually wowed by her knowledge of pretty much everything under the sun that makes Sweet Auburn such a remarkable site of Black history, resistance, and culture.

Also walked away with bonus recommendations for restaurants and other cool places to visit in Atlanta!
